061: Harry Gold’s 1946 Willys CJ-2A
This is my 1946 Willys CJ-2A. The restoration of this Jeep took a little over 2 years and was completed in the spring of 2009. Since it’s completion it has been in daily use April through October on the roads in and around Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada.
I am currently eagerly awaiting the good weather to once again put it out on the road.

Awesome job! I am amazed at how good the finish is on the bodywork before the spray job. I wonder if the canvas top and frame are original or whether they were made up? I am about to tackle my top as part of my finishing project.
Good afternoon everyone, and thank you for your comments, I really appreciate them all. Now I note that some of you have asked a question or two and I would like to be able to answer them, but the problem is i have no way of contacting you.
So if you would redirect your questions to goldsign@shaw.ca then I will gladly answer.
Have a great day,
Harry.
Nice looking jeep! My granpa had one.
Is it 6 volts?
Harry, that is one fine looking Jeep and I know how proud you are of it. A job well done.
Wow, great job! Mine certainly doesn’t look anywhere near what yours does. Thanks for motivating me! I also see you put the year and name on the hood, did you get tired of people asking you “What is that?”. lol
Looks great Harry. Can I ask what tires you used and where you bought them? Also I like the top. What brand is that?
Mike
Dear Harry
Well done!
Beachwood canvas supplies wonderful original canvas tops for the CJ2A
I can see that you reused the original body tub. My own 1946 CJ2A has two recesses in the drivers side of the body to accommodate the handels of the shovel and ax. I believe that these recesses were leftover from the ww2 model. Can you see if your CJ2A has had these recesses or whether they have disapeared by the time your Jeep was built. mine is a very early model with colum shift.
Mr Gold that is one fine 46 really well done.
I can why it took 2 years to complete and I am so glad to see the backto OEM
look too.
