031: Barry Evans Jeepster
The primer colored Jeepster is a 1948 from Windsor Ontario Canada, and the 2 photos of the 1949 green one are; 1st taken in Newport Vermont when I found it, and the second was after I got her home & cleaned her up. Both are currently under restoration by the gentleman I sold them to (in Montreal, Quebec Canada). My most recent order from you (for the Oak bows for the top & a carpet set) was for the restoration of the green ’49.
This truck was purchased by my Dad as a gift to me when I was 15. It is a 1948 2WD Jeeptruck with a 134L 4 Cyl (no overdrive unfortunately!) I spent many of my teenage years fixing and restoring this old girl, and I regrettably sold it in 2003. The current owner (to whom I sold it) passed away in the fall of 2009, and I an in negotiations to “bring her home” again. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
I purchased the blue Jeepster from Somerset New Jersey in 2006. The vehicle was originally owned by a Mrs Louise Bell from Flemington NJ. Upon her death, her daughter inherited the vehicle, and then sold it to the gentleman from whom I purchased it. It is very original…even the headlamp bulbs are date stamped April 1949 on the back! It is a well maintained, low mileage vehicle that runs impeccably. The yellow Jeepster is a 1948 with the standard 4 Cyl. I purchased this car from Fall River MA back in 2005. Again, like the blue ’49, I bought it from a lady who inherited it from her deceased father. This car is my weekend cruiser, and as most Jeepsters, is a reliable old girl that is a blast to drive!!!
I have owned many different Willys vehicles over that past 30 years, as my Dad had bought me my first 48 Jeep Truck when I was 15, but these 2 jeepsters are very dear to my heart. Here in Quebec Canada, Jeepsters are very rare as our climate was never ‘ideal’ for owning a Jeepster. I bought both these vehicles in the US, and have had many chances to sell them since bringing them home, but I will not part with them.
