My dad, Dick, bought this Jeep back in 1948. He and his twin brother had lots of adventures in it before he met my mom, Charlene. They dated in this Jeep! Dad and I recently restored the Jeep from the wheels up doing all of the work ourselves. It was a terrific father-son project and the finished product brings back so many fond memories for my parents who’ve now been married 61 years.

Reply to Jon Boothe,
The metal fixtures are the bows that hold up the top when is use. With the top down you take the top bow supports apart and stow them in two fixtures above the rear wheel well.

Great Looking CJ2A, I saved one (1948) this Spring from a barn in East Texas, just starting with a new wiring harness, I see yours has the same sheet metal fixture on the drivers side above the rear wheel, I’ve never been able to determine what that was used for, any responders appreciated, Bless your folks may they have many years to enjoy that machine! Jon
Great story. And it keeps the family together. Five star. big smile
I bought my first 1948 Jeep in 1963 when i was 16 for $500. My father told me I was nuts . My Wife now of 46 years had so much fun in that old thing. This summer we bought a 1946 for our second child hood. Your jeep looks great and God bless your son for taken care of both of you. Jack
Wow! What a beauty! It probably didn’t look this good brand new! Hope they and you have many more years of fun with your jeep!
Terrific Jeep. Know it has been a great experience.
You guys did a great job. I am especially interested in the story behind the top and doors you installed. I am also restoring a 1948 CJ-2A and I live in Alberta, Canada (gets a little cool in the winter) and when I saw the beautiful canvas top and doors you had installed I wondered if you could share with me where you got them.
Looks like something you might have had custom made and if they made one, maybe they would be interested in making two. Any information you can share would be appreciated….
Again, you did an amazing job on your CJ. Anyone who is doing a restoration knows what it takes to get to the stage your at. Congratulations.
Beautiful job and a great story. Best of luck to you and your parents.
Great story, beautiful Jeep, love the top.
