In 1978 I owned a Car Dealership in Woodbridge Va and traded in a 1946 CJ-2A Jeep Serial # 45898 and decided to restore it. I had a Body Shop repair and paint it in Virginia and installed a new canvas top and used it around Virginia for the duration of time that I lived there. I moved to South Carolina and obtained the Ford Franchise in 1981 in Bamburg, SC and was living at Clear Pond (a private 100 acre lake) in rural Bamburg County. I bogged the Jeep down in a swamp while hunting, and it remained there for about a year before I took my wrecker and enough chains and cable to reach it and pull it out. Several years later after retiring, I decided to restore the Jeep to Military Fashion.
After a couple of years and nearly completed I purchased a Bantam Trailer to go along with the Jeep. I had a old Barbecue designed for a brick Barbecue and decided to install it in the trailer, and added other features to it to cook with. The Jeep is now used for Veteran Programs, Car Shows, and driving around town daily. The Trailer is fully functional as a Grille with Barbecue Hooded Grille, Plain Griddle over the rear two burners and a Grille over two burners for Cast Iron Pots cooking. It has a functioning sink and side burner also. It now belongs along with me to the Military Vehicle Preservation Association (member # 34914), the SC Military Vehicle Collectors Club and the SC Flat Fender Club. I now have a 1942 Ford Script Jeep which is starting to be restored also. Have not been able to establish an ID for it as no serial numbers are available on it.

I’m sure you have already or know from someone but on a 2A if it’s still there right in between the front bumper is a tag riveted into he frame, usually on the left side, almost between the C frame of the bumper but sure you would have seen it if you restored it. They were riveted in so have to chisel them off if it’s missing. The tag is about 2 1/2″ X 1 1/2″
How cool is a understatement, have two pickups, 48 , 53, two CJ 2A and a Jeepster, and one trailer. Boy did you give me a great idea, pull my big 35 butt smoker around with it and the Jerry can is the best ever for a few rusted out bottoms ones I have, love it. So many ideas and now try to find the time to get them all done.

That is really neat. You have done a super job on jeep and trailer and have given me an idea. I have a 1953 Willys truck in Greenville (SC) and your trailer BBQ might work for my truck (have to check it out-BBQ fire and gas tank won’t go well together) but gives me some food for thought. I do have an old Sears David Bradley trailer that I pull behind the truck on the farm and it will work in that. Thanks for pictures of your work!!!
My “script” Ford’s serial number is stamped on top of the left front frame member between the shoick absorber mount and the engine mount. The GPW and numbers are thin 1/2″ tall stamps.
