1965 Kaiser Universal Long Range (LR) CJ6
A multi-year frame off total resto-mod project geared mostly toward originality.
All CJ6’s are considered rare but a LR is very rare. The Long Range Jeeps were built from the factory with a second gas tank located on the passenger side instead of a tool box providing 22 gallons of inboard fuel capacity. Added to this LR CJ6 is a third 10 gallon tank located between the frame in the rear. A simulated jerry can is mounted on the rear tail gate which is a lockable tool box. Carpenters tool boxes are mounted to each rear wheel well for more lockable storage. Power ports have been installed on the drivers side tool box to charge battery operated tools while en route. The dash board has been completely rearranged to simulate a military style dash board with tachometer included. The old style telephone hand set mounted on the dash is functional and plugs into a cell phone for hands free driver. The engine is a rebuilt 134ci. F Head Hurricane. At the drivers side rear corner is a whip antenna for a CB radio and the factory hole on the passenger side cowling is used for a 2meter HAM radio antenna. The paint is flat khaki with earth brown accents to produce a weathered combat experienced look. Every item on this Jeep has been replaced or rebuilt with 95% of the parts coming from Kaiser Willys. Currently the Jeep has 3000 miles on it.
Thanks to everyone at Kaiser Willys for their tremendous help and guidance with this project.
