My father-in-law wound up with the Willys CJ-3A in a trade years ago, and my son quickly fell in love with it. It was “stored” out in the field and my son would beg to drive it when he was around twelve. While learning how to drive in the field once, it blew the brake light switch out on the frame rail, sprayed brake fluid all over the exhaust manifold, and caught fire. So with no brakes, smoking, and flames showing, he jumped out and ran for an extinguisher as it idled on thru the field. Thus began the build up. Grand Dad officially gave it to him at age fifteen, we worked all winter getting it rewired and running for him when he got his license. Now, eleven years later, the Willys sits with a Buick 225 V-6, SM420, original T18 transfer, Novak adapter, Holley 2-barrel, Warn overdrive, 4 wheel disc brakes on the original axles, and a Painless wiring harness.
