Thanks for the nice complements. Sorry for the delayed response. I haven’t been on here in years. I used leaf springs off my 95 YJ for about 2 inches of additional height. I had to weld new mounts on the frame for the springs but it was worth the effort. It rides very smooth new and handles great. I also widened the stance with wheel spacers to keep it stable. The paint is olive dread out of spray cans. Very easy to touch up.
Hello Tim,
Great Picture….
I have my fathers 1947 CJ-2A, that I am going to start rebuilding in the spring. I have two questions.
1. What paint and color did you use to repaint it?
2. The jeep looks from the picture to set just a little higher that original. If so how much and how did you do it?
Thanks,
Scott Lee
HELLO TIM ~ DOING THE SAME THING TO MINE. WANTED TO KNOW WHAT YOU DID WITH THE PTO? I HAVE A PTO ON MINE THAT IS NON OPERATIONAL. DON’T NEED IT ~ CAN I TAKE IT OUT?
Tim, really enjoyed the pictures you posted. Beautiful restoration. I have CJ2a 1947 which has been in my family 45 years…good condition, recent restoration work. I still use it on my farm, Clarksville, TN. If you ever decide to part with your jeep I would appreciate an opportunity to acquire it.
Tim, I am a VW Aircooled fan and have a 69 Beetle and a 71 Thing, both in classic condition. If I were to change to Willys I would certainly be inspired by your Jeep in rebuilding it. Cheers man you certainly have done a classic & excellent job. Probably makes you feel ten feet tall.
