As a young boy I lived with my grandfather growing up. My father was not present in my life. Grandad served in ww2 and was part of D Day, and the Normandy Invasion. He at first was in general Patton’s tank battalion. Then transferred to recon. He told me how one of the old Jeeps saved his life once when he entered a town not knowing the Germans had occupied it. Some stories he never finished … I remember waking up one night at grandpas house and he was choking my grandma…. Until she clocked him on the head with one of the old rotary phones… He was dreaming, and she said it had happened before. We often watched movies such as Kelly’s heroes, and the big red one, Stalag 17, Patton, and the great Escape. He has been gone many years now and I restored this old Jeep myself and painted his dog tag numbers on the hood. I don’t plan on ever getting rid of it. My daughter Logann, and two of her friends have been learning to drive it. Saucie is my wiener dog in the picture also. The girls are 14 years old. Grandad’s name was SJ Graves of Seminole, Oklahoma.
