My story really is not an exciting one. I have no super barn finds, nothing that’s been in the family for years. I can tell you that my Mom learned to drive on a 1946 CJ-2A when her parents were the care takers at the Statan Island Light house when she was young. I have always been a Jeep fan and have always wanted a flat fender. My love for Jeeps really started in 1986 when I purchased my first factory fresh Comanche. I had purchased my second Comanche in 1989. This one was a short bed 4×4, which till this day is my daily driver. I have had my 1946 CJ-2A coming up on seven years now and it has been a slow and steady restoration. My mid life hunk-a-junk is what my wife calls it. She will never admit she likes it, but my four children and I love to take our Sunday drives in it. The Willys came in very handy when we were hit here on the Island by Super storm Sandy. It went places and got around things our other vehicles couldn’t. Hunk-a-junk or not, with help from friends, it’s a real joy to work on and whole lotta fun to drive. Thanks for all the information you put out there for us, it’s a huge help. Mike
Hello! I`m also from Staten Island Jeep looks good. I`m currently working on a 1963 Jeep Willys CJ-5 I just have some metal work to do then paint. I got all my parts from the great crew at Kaiser Willys! Others can call them a hunk of junk but my 47 Willys pulled a NYC bus in low range that was stuck in the snow! No problem! I`m currently looking for an old Willys pick-up or panel. Enjoy my friend!
