Here are photos of my 48 Willys CJ-2A that has taken 3 yrs. to restore with a lot of parts from Kaiser Willys. Painted in military olive drab so worries of brush scratches won’t be a hassle as shiny paint would be. Adaptations and additions include: large 940 amp 6V battery, new wiring harness with addition of fuse box, PTO winch Koenig 100 series, floor heater, warn lockout hubs, skid plate, recessed tail/brake lights, 6V halogen headlamps, seat belts, grab bars, turn signals, electric wipers, chaff screen, padded roll bar, quick access fire extinguisher, heavy duty tow bar, Bestop black vinyl top, floor mats, tow hooks on frame front and back, side steps, locking gas cap, spare tire and jerry can. Ah-ooga horn ( for fun) and 4 cu ft. waterproof medical cabinet mounted under rear seat to act as trunk. Steering is very tight and true with the addition of a new Borg-warner Vega type steering system. Motor, transmission, transfer case, starter and generator all professionally rebuilt. Runs perfectly with a total of about 600 miles on the rebuild. Been in serious 4WD testing as well as town drives. Really looking forward to Elk hunting season this fall.
Update 6-9-2017
This is my 1948 CJ-2A “Tribute” Willys Jeep. That has been ground-up restored and has the WWII look. In summer I take it to Parades and car shows and in winter it transforms into a serious hunting vehicle. There are some add ons for safety and road drivability ie. seat belts, turn signals, electronic ignition, step up plates, heater,PTO winch ( covered for military look ), padded roll bar and complete top with doors. It has most of the correct WWII parts including the 9 slot grill but with civilian CJ improvements like electric windshield wipers and outside gas tank filler.
