I have wanted a Jeep all my life and I finally saved up some money and found one for a low enough price I could afford it. And with a company like Kaiser Willys I know I’ll be able to make this Jeep like new again. I bought the Jeep from a man that used to collect and restore these Jeeps and he got so old he couldn’t do it anymore so he sold all the ones that still needed to be restored and I got the last one he had. Yay!
I bought my Jeep in 2011. Got it running and drove it around for a while then I took him down and started the restoration process. It took 3 years to rebuild it all in a 12 by 16 building. I took it all apart and did a little at a time in my building. The tub took up the most room. I did the frame out in the yard. I enjoy my jeep very much now that its all fixed up. It turns a lot of heads when I drive through town.
Thanks guys. All of my family and friends kept trying to get me to do it up as a army jeep. I said nope. I’m painting it back as close to original color as I can. Found lots of original paint under 6 layers of all differnt colors of paint. And bottom of tub was still ariginal Michigan yellow. I did ad a roll bar for safety and a brush guard / push bar on front. Didn’t have original wheels or matching ones. I got a deal on these so that’s what I’m running now. I did herculine the inside of tub to protect it and under coated the jeep also
Jessica! Damn fine work! Congrats on the hard earned results. We have a one owner 1946 CJ that is also yellow. It’s great to see someone “restore” rather than “modify’ as they end up destroying a legend. Best of luck!
