My great uncle purchased this jeep new in 1946. It has been in the family since. When he passed away it was purchased by my uncle at the estate auction and placed in storage through the years. He planned on getting it running again but due to his health it never happened. I purchased it from him and now I am giving it a proper restoration that it deserves!
Gary, I have a similar story with my 1948 Cj2a, same color as yours. My Dad bought it for $200 on my second birthday in 1955, I road in it to our cabin 12 miles into the national forest, then started driving it when I was 8 and bought it from him when I was 12. It sat in my folks garage for almost 40 years from when I enlisted into the military in 1972 until 2011 when my Mom passed away. I, like you, did a full frame off restoration, keeping it 100% stock other than safety items such as electric wipers, turn signals and seat belts. It has it’s original Koenig full hardtop that I’ve restored as well. I, like you, hope that it remains in the family for generations to come!
