I bought my 1948 CJ-2A last month from an estate sale. The owner, a US Air Force veteran, had recently passed away so his family was forced to sell the Jeep. I instantly fell in love and HAD to have it. I placed a bid and was called the next day with the sad news that I had been out-bid. I was sad, but assumed it just wasn’t meant to be. Two days later I received another call that the person who had out bid me, backed out, and the Jeep was mine for the taking. I drove straight there and paid for the Jeep and brought her home (via trailer). She has since been worked on by my dad and I and she’s in great running condition. The previous owner had painted her like the old army Jeeps so I plan on keeping it that way. The original engine is still in it so I can only cruise around at about 45mph, but I don’t mind.
My dogs love the Jeep and although they look like little prissy dogs, they are country through and through; they run with the big boys. I can’t wait to take the Jeep to the Sierra Nevada Mountains to go camping and take her on the trails. She still is awaiting a name, but I have the feeling it won’t take long.
