Brad Adams

I purchased “Willy Pete” from a farmer in Utah in 2004. The jeep had not been on the road since 1971.  Upon my return from Iraq, a good buddy of mine (and collector of Willys of all ages) provided the guidance and expertise to help me restore and transpose my CJ2A civilian jeep to a military version. I know that some have a problem with this type of violation, but being an active duty Marine, it seemed only fitting that I drive a Marine vehicle.  MB’s are beautiful, but scarce and expensive. I recently replaced the entire brake system.  That was a chore!  The farmer told me he did the brakes in 71, well I guess they will be good for 40 more years!

  1. Looks great,I am also a former Marine and have the same thoughts as You. Do You think I could put a mb grill in my cj 2a ?

  2. HI ~ JUST BOUGHT THE EXACT JEEP-I’M FORMER MARINE-IRAQ 2003/04 – DOING THE SAME THING.
QUESTION; WHAT SIZE TIRES DID YOU PUT ON? THEY LOOK GOOD.

  4. Hi Brad

The MB n the cj2a are typical in all ways except the cj had civilian fittings .
Conversion will not be difficult as long as no fittings other than military parts used.
Please get the combination you like before having painted as per the camo terrain of choice.

    great going
    good show
