So I have a Jeep Willy, but it looks like some of the VIN has been scratched out. Is there any way for me to give my partial Vin and someone would be able to match it with its proper Vin and frame number? This has caused a halt on my registration. I can’t get pass CHP without the proper numbers. Thanks in advance for any help

I am restoring a 1951 Willys Jeep. I was told by the seller that it was a m38 model. After towing it home, I looked at the label plate under the hood on the firewall on the passenger side. M38 does not appear on the plate. The serial #is either 151-GB1 36858 or451-GB1 36858. Can anyone tell from this number what model I have? Thank You. James

Hi Dick – Congrats on your new Jeepster! In answer to your question… it’s just a Jeepster, a CJ model would not apply. 🙂 Have a great Monday – Rachel H.
I have a 1956 pickup–4WD / 6-226 /T90 Transmission.
I just put a new countershaft gear cluster in-all 88b roller bearings, etc. Used the new thrust washer from the KW parts—one to the front and the two to the back. When I got the shaft in place, it seems like the clearance is very very tight—more that when I took the old countershaft (all be it with the worn thrust washers) out. It turns–but with a fair amount of force. Is this normal? Should I just let in wear in? There’s a certain amount of clearance desired according the section in the mechanic’s manual, and though I haven’t measured it, I doubt I can even get any feeleer gauge in there. Should I just out the old thrust washers (which didn;t look worn at all) back in?
ANy help-thanks!(Ignore the spam block message you get)/
Also—I came up with a simple way to make the “special tool” required to get those 88 roller bearings and 6 washers placed witht he spacer inside the counter gear, and usd to getthe set in place in the transmission housing.
Thanks!
Did a very early 46 CJ2A (serial 31501) have a high/low beam dash indicator light?
