My grandfather bought this 1953 Willys CJ-3B from a dealer at a train depot in Lebeau, Louisiana in 1953. He used it to pull a new Holland hay baler for years. My Dad and Uncle drove the Jeep in the haypatch as well. I learned to drive on the same Jeep in 1965. My Aunt made my Grandpa sell the Jeep in 1972. We would talk about the Jeep, my cousins and I as it was a big part of our childhood. Some years later I was going to pick up another truck for a friend. I saw an old Jeep sitting under a pecan tree. I had to stop. That big ugly winch on the front could only be one of a kind. You guessed it. It was Papas’ old Jeep. The lady told me her husband had bought the Jeep and drove it until 1984 when he died. The Jeep had not moved since. She gave me the Jeep after I told her who I was. That was in September of 2015. The Jeep is at home now.

I wish I could find my dad’s first jeep. It was a 1943 Willys. He bought it in 1972 yea it was a LITTLE rough. One thing about that jeep that was one of a kind for some reason some one had brazed a quarter on the nut that held the steering wheel on? Maybe one day it will turn up.
Every once in a while you find that “diamond in the rough!” Nice job restoring her! Hope you can keep it for generations to come!
