My name is Gary Moore and I have just completed 25217 kilometers or 15669 miles around Australia in my 1942 Willys MB, a journey that took just over 16 months! There were quite a few mechanical adventures along the way. Early on, the steering column broke off at the steering box… I’ve had one blown head gasket, the starter failed five times, the Bendex springs etc. The tow coupling tore out of the back of the chassis, resulting in rolling the trailer over down the bank. The generator failed, and the engine lost the top of a piston. Then the selector fork nut came out and crunched through the cast transfer box housing. I’ve had the top up about three times, twice for rain, once for a 45 deg C, hot sunny day. Want to know who accompanied Gary on his epic trek? Check out this brief article and interview about Gary’s 16 month Willys Australian Adventure.
